Paitoon Jumee

After a remarkable start in a drawing competition in Thailand, Paitoon Jumee, who was born in 1978, first studied fine art and painting at Pohchang University in Bangkok before continuing his studies at the prestigious school in Vijitsil. Trained in many disciplines such as lithography, xylography and sculpture, he finally opted for painting as a specialty.

Paitoon Jumee paints portraits with a very personal technique; dripping. The use of this technique is considered to be Jumee's signature and personal touch. He moistens the canvas and drips to create an intentional, random fabric that represents stimuli from the outside world. When his model's face is opened, he becomes totally receptive to everything around him. On the other hand, closed eyes symbolize detachment of the mind from disturbances that interfere with inner life.

The addition of this fabric adds dimension, breadth and melancholy to Jumee's works which display an innate sense for depth.

Jumee paints daring female portraits, but also superb figurative male nudes. All of his pieces are highly sought after by collectors around the world.

Following early and well remarked beginnings in drawing contests in Thailand, Paitoon Jumee, who was born in 1978, has first studied fine arts and painting at the University of Pohchang of Bangkok before continuing his studies at the prestigious school of Vijitsil. Having being trained in many disciplines such as lithography, xylography and sculpture, he ultimately chose painting as his specialty.

Paitoon Jumee painted portraits with a very personal technique. He moistens the canvas and deliberately uses the technique of drip to create an intentional and random fabric representing the stimuli from the outside world. When the face of the model has her eyes open, she is receptive to everything that surrounds her. On the other hand, closed eyes symbolizes the detachment of the mind with respect to disturbances that interfere with internal life.

The use of the drip technique, among other textural effects, can be considered Jumee’s signature touch. These flourishes add depth and melancholy to what would otherwise appear a clean and detached portrait. Jumee’s works display his innate sense for textural depth and allow his work to be instantly recognizable.

Paitoon’s bold female portraits and stunning figurative male nudes are pieces that are highly sought after by collectors all over the world.
