Indigo
Very deep blue fabric, hand-dyed for a very long
time in Senegal and elsewhere in Africa and India. The indigo color is obtained
from a tree called "the indigo tree". The leaves of the indigo tree
are said to have medicinal properties as well.
Indigo
All our decorative items from Mali such as
cushions, table runners, napkins, fabrics, and floor cushions have been
hand-dyed in an artisanal way. Their Indigo color, used as a dye in its natural
form has been around for at least 6,000 years and is obtained from a tree
called “the indigo tree”.
Washing advice: You should wash it the first time
before wearing or using an indigo fabric if you do not want to have
“Schtzroumpf” hands. Rinse your clothing or fabric in a bath of strongly salted
water or water to which 1/3 white vinegar has been added. This action limits
the bleeding of colors and fixes them.
